Onboarding process

Our onboarding process has been designed to be a seamless procedure for eligible phone or internet providers to enable their customers to connect to services over the nbn™ broadband access network.


The onboarding process involves five main steps:




Step 1
During the qualification phase, nbn will assist prospective providers in understanding nbn™ Ethernet and how it would meet their business needs. The qualification process will then go on to provide detailed technical and operational documentation, procedures and support to service providers to assist with their internal product integration before moving into the Interoperability Certification Testing program.
Step 2

The Wholesale Broadband Agreement (WBA) and Satellite Wholesale Broadband Agreement (SWBA) sets out the terms and conditions of access and supply of products over the nbn™ access network. A provider must execute a WBA before it can commence its interoperability certification and business readiness testing.

Step 3
Once the WBA or SWBA is executed, nbn will work with the new provider to model its products onto the nbn™ solution set. This activity will include discussions on product feature mapping and process integration. This step will enable the provider to fully understand its interactions with nbn, and will streamline the product development and integration steps that the provider will need to undertake.
Step 4

Before a provider can connect to the nbn™ access network and provide services, it must undertake a number of interoperability certification tests and business process acceptance activities. The Access Seeker Accreditation program gives providers the certification to connect to the nbn™ access network and to provide services to their customers.

Step 5
nbn works together with its providers to provision test services on the live network, and complete any product or technology-based testing – to ensure that the services delivered meet the requirements as set out by the provider's defined solution.
